Resolutions for the Antarctic

International Stations and the Antarctic Data Space

The critical documentary “Resolutions for the Antarctic – International Stations and the Antarctic Data Space” promotes the sharing of scientific research undertaken in Antarctica and advocates for the reduction of our contaminating footprint in the polar region. Launched at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design on occasion of the exhibition ‘Resolution for the Antarctic. International Stations & the Antarctic Data Space’, the film builds upon the extensive research undertaken by the agency on the evolution of the anthropic presence in our seventh continent. It unveils the systemic proliferation of embassy-like research stations while identifying strategies for the establishment of shared international infrastructures designed to enhance the production of ground-breaking scientific work. Aware that an urgent resolution on Antarctic collaboration should not be confined to the territory south of the 60th parallel, the documentary also advocates for the creation of the “Antarctic Data Space,” a transnational virtual data centre for Antarctic research, built in defence of intergenerational justice.
